This carpet is a Afghan Ziegler. These fashionable carpets were originally made in Iran by an Anglo Swiss firm called Ziegler & Company from the late 19th to the early twentieth centuries. Zieglers are among the most sought after antique carpets in today’s market. Since the manufacture of Ziegler in Iran has stopped, the Afghan weavers took over the production of these gracious carpets with their soft colours, woven with traditional Persian , Mughal and arts and crafts designs. Never over crowded, these patterns give sense of open space and elegance bringing, splendor and allure in every home.
